UNDP Study Identifies Economic and Political Barriers for Jordanian Women in Governorates

UNDP Identifying Economic and Political Barriers Faced by Jordanian Women in the Governorates 2022 This research aims to offer an independent perspective to enhance the understanding of barriers hindering women's political and social empowerment. The study, conducted through discussion groups, addresses barriers at four levels family, community, legislation, and politics intersecting with women's economic empowerment. Targeting female, provincial council members, mayors, and heads of provincial councils, the study explores women's perceptions of their roles in elected councils, success factors, challenges, and their needs for effective performance. It also assesses mayors' views on women's participation, the tools available to leverage women's voices, and the existing gaps. The research team collaborated closely with UNDP and UN Women throughout the process.
